PREPARATION

  1. Meet with space planner and key personnel to discuss needs of new office.
  2. Consider expansion needs and future growth.
  3. Determine improvements needed, ask for allowance for improvements from builder.
  4. Make sure builder or developer will provide electrical plans for new space.
  5. Consider taxes, insurance, and distance form suppliers, customers and employees.

CHOOSING A VENDOR

  1. Is the broker familiar with the area in which you are interested?
  2. A good broker will ask you many questions about how your business operates.
  3. Verify reputation and trustworthiness of the broker.
  4. What type of property does the broker normally handle?
  5. What properties can the broker show you (only the properties owned by his or her company)?
